Under the overall supervision of the Regional Director and the direct supervision of the Regional Migration Health Specialist at the Regional Office for MENA, the Regional Migration Health Intern will provide technical and administrative support to the Regional Migration Health Specialist.

1. Provide various administrative and logistics support for the MENA regional Migration Health Department (MHD) meetings planned to take place in Cairo Egypt.

2. Update the existing sets of epidemiological data compiled by the Regional Migration Health Specialist and Epidemiologist and assist them in data analysis to support the country missions for their strategic policy decision making, project development ideas, and resource mobilization.

3. Compile project data collected from the country missions (e.g. the number of beneficiaries, curative services, health promotion) and assist in data analysis to support the country missions for project monitoring.

4. Assist in tracking project implementation progress to support the country missions to avoid delays.

5. Assist the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer in health project monitoring and evaluation including design and updating regional monitoring database, preparation and review of project background documentations, evaluation tools development, transcribing and analyzing data coordinating and scheduling evaluation field work in coordination, with project teams and reviewing evaluation reports.

6. Support developing regional initiatives such as UN Joint Programme by conducting a mini survey, compiling inputs from the country missions for the proposal and budget development, refining proposal, and developing donor briefs.

7. Support in reviewing project reports and proposal/concept notes based on the checklist developed by the Regional Migration Health Specialist.

8. Assist with the preparation and background research for presentations, meetings, and requests for inputs from headquarters and other colleagues.

9. Assist in developing and updating information sheets on the overview of the migration health programme in the region.

10. Help analyze and share related thematic information (including issues, trends and data) as well as good practices with country missions, relevant colleagues and external parties.

11. Assist in administrative tasks including scheduling, travel arrangements and coordination with partners.

12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education

· Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in public health, epidemiology, social science, and public administration, or an equivalent combination of relevant trainings and field experience.

Experience

· Experience in research and M&E methods, data analysis or report writing/editing.

· Experience in volunteer assignments and/or internships in international organizations as well as familiarity of migration health issues especially epidemiology an advantage.

The monthly stipend is 416 USD, but the amount could slightly fluctuate. The intern needs to cover the cost of travel to/from Cairo, Egypt as well as the medical insurance. IOM will provide necessary administrative support for obtaining the visa.
