The main function of the Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) is the provision of comprehensive information and communications technology services to the Centre’s staff and training participants.

ICTS is responsible for providing website hosting, design, development and management, and application development services for systems pertaining to training activities. ICTS provides all computer-related support, including installation and maintenance of servers and desktop hardware and software; computer equipment standards; equipment and technical support for training activities and meetings; the infrastructure for enterprise resource planning applications and other office automation applications; Internet access and file-sharing services; email and groupware services; security for application and server data together with protection for the computer environment from viruses and similar threats; business continuity and disaster recovery.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The candidate will have the opportunity of experimenting the transitioning from a fully on-premise IT infrastructure to a hybrid infrastructure with some services based on the Cloud. In particular, by the end of this experience, he/she will gain work experience in IT infrastructure, cloud services such as Office365, Azure and Amazon Web Services and providing user support.

 The internship will also provide a good knowledge of the mission of the Centre. Finally, the diverse multicultural backgrounds of the Centre will provide an excellent learning environment to develop a global view.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Under the overall guidance of the team leader the intern will assist the team in:

• Testing and adopting a standard configuration of Office365 applications such as Exchange Online, OneDrive, Skype for Business, Teams, etc. ;
• Getting familiar with the new cloud based tools and provide assistance in using the tools;
• Identifying and sharing best practices;
• Producing a range of training materials in digital formats to support staff in using the Cloud based tools;
• Assisting in the transition to a hybrid IT infrastructure through the adoption of cloud services: proactively support activities that need to be performed during the transition based on the adopted plan 

 

Moreover, the intern may be asked to assist the team in:             

• Undertaking researches in specific domains;
• Identifying and sharing best practices;
• Conducting prototype testing of related technologies;
• Producing reports and statistics, as needed

Education

Enrolled on a graduate or postgraduate course or recently completed graduate or postgraduate studies in the field of computing, Instructional Design or related field

IT Skills
Knowledge of virtualization, operating systems, networking and storage and IT security.
Familiarity with Office365 apps and tools, Azure, Amazon Web Services would be an asset.

Other Skills
Ability to actively work in a team.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Initiative, creativity, enthusiasm for promoting the use of technology
