Purpose of the position

Under the supervision of Editorial Production Manager and guided by the strategy of MSF Japan as well as that of the Communications Department, create effective and engaging audio-visual contents and web articles, and undertake relevant tasks to help achieve MSF Japan’s communications objectives which ultimately contribute to assisting people in need of healthcare.

Objectives

Through audio-visual content production, and effective and strategic dissemination of audio-visual communications materials, increase MSF’s reach, awareness and engagement among the Japanese society to contribute to achieving strategic communications objectives of MSF Japan, and ultimately the mission of MSF movement and MSF Japan.

Main Responsibilities

Production of audio-visual contents

• Plan and manage the production of original audio-visual contents for MSF Japan, including video-shoot, editing, liaison with those featured, and time management.
• Translate and subtitle audio-visual materials received from MSF field communications teams and used by MSF Japan.
• Support and collaborate with other staff members, in particular the other audio-visual communications officer in the same team, in producing, selecting, and curating audio-visual contents upon request. 
• Support and collaborate with other staff members in the use of audio-visual editing software, such as Adobe Creative cloud (MUST: Adobe Premier/ Preferable: After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop) upon request.
• Contact with external vendors and other staff members in audio-visual content production, operating owned audio-visual channel and/or external audio-visual platforms.
• Plan and produce web articles as original contents and/or based on audio-visual materials received from the field.

Dissemination of audio-visual contents

• Publish and disseminate audio visual contents on MSF Japan’s own channels and other effective platforms, to ensure produced content resonates with identified target audiences.
• Together with the other AV officer, manage audio-visual platforms including MSF Japan’s YouTube channel so that the dissemination of audio-visual contents on these platforms contributes to increasing reach, awareness and engagement in the Japanese society.
• Support other staff members in disseminating audio-visual content upon request. 

Research, analyses and strategy development for effective use of audio-visual contents

• Curate, analyze, and share the outcome of audio-visual content dissemination with other staff members, and make proposals for improvements.
• Work with the team to develop and implement measures to expand reach through SNS.
• Analyse functions and effectiveness of audio-visual contents platforms.
• Liaise with other staff members and undertake related audio-visual tasks.

Management of audio-visual software and equipment, and relevant supportive tasks

• Manage the company's AV equipment such as still/movie camera. Assist other staff in its use and lead the purchase and maintenance of equipment
• Manage audio-visual data in MSF Japan’s local servers.
• Develop, implement and adapt relevant audio-visual guidelines and systems.

広報部では、活動地における人道危機や国境なき医師団の活動を日本社会に伝えるため情報発信をしています。オーディオビジュアル・コミュニケーションズ・オフィサーは、エディトリアル・プロダクション・マネジャーのもと、団体のオウンドメディアを中心に映像、音声コンテンツや記事の制作および編集、SNSなどを通じた発信を行います。また、部署横断的プロジェクトで企画・実施を担います。国境なき医師団のブランド、理念を表現するコンテンツの制作を通じて、日本社会における団体の認知度向上と人道問題への関心を最大限に高めることに貢献します。

Essential
・Genuine interest in and strong commitment to the medical humanitarian principles of MSF

・Ability to translate and subtitle audio-visual materials

・Knowledge and skills in creating original audio-visual contents including concept development,　scenario making, video shooting, editing, dubbing and/or adding voice over.

・Knowledge and proven skills in the usage of audio-visual editing software such as Adobe Premier and After Effects

・Knowledge about managing video dissemination platforms including YouTube

・Strategic thinking to expand the reach of MSF's AV content

・Sound editorial judgment required in the production process of audio-visual contents

・At least two years of valid working experience with an organization

・Efficiency in task and time management.

・Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate a teamwork and intersectional projects

・Computer literacy

・Native level Japanese skills and strong proficiency in spoken and written English

・Working experience in the movie, audio-visual industry, or in journalism.

Desirable
・Knowledge and skills in the usage of DTP software such as Photoshop, illustrator

・Knowledge of and/or working experience in the humanitarian aid sector

・MSF field experience

・医療・人道援助への興味と理解

・映画・映像関連業界、ジャーナリズムでの実務経験 

・動画、静止画の撮影、Abobe Premier, After Effectsでの編集など、高いAVコンテンツ制作力

・SNS戦略への関心と理解

・母国語レベルの日本語および、高い英語力（リーディング、スピーキング、ライティング）

・Salary is determined based on job grade.
・Flexible working hours with a standard working day of 8 hours
・Full social insurance
・Commuting allowance, work from home allowance, and child allowance (in accordance with the organization's regulations)
・Two full days off per week. In addition to annual paid vacations (24 days/year), year-end and New Year vacations and congratulation or condolence leave are available.
・Salary includes 20 hours of fixed overtime pay.

・Probation period: 6 months
・Others： No smoking indoors in principle (smoking rooms are available)
