- What you'll need • Education: Master's*** degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in business administration, international relations, international development, law, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in roles such as office management, coordination, or similar positions, with a proven track record of effective team management and operational oversight. • Languages: Proficiency in English. Japanese, Korean and Spanish as desirable languages. ***Equivalent combination of education and experience means that relevant professional experience can be substituted for education in the related professional discipline (ratio of two years of work experience for each year of studies). Requirements • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Japan or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Japan. • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

About this position
We are seeking an energetic, versatile, and resourceful individual to join our team in Tokyo. In this role, you will provide essential operational support to the Country Representative and the team, primary focusing on corporate administration tasks within the context of the team’s objectives.
You will be part of the Office in Asia (ASI), a key component of the Global Partnerships Office (GPS). This team plays a critical role in strengthening and expanding the IDB Group’s strategic partnerships, resource mobilization initiatives, and collaborative efforts with a strong focus on improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) – all aligned with the IDB Group’s broader strategy and priorities. GPS supports the IDB Group’s ongoing efforts to transition from a regional leader to a global leader in international development.
The GPS is composed of the Resource Mobilization Division (REM) and the Grants and Co-financing Management Unit (GCM), both located in Washington D.C., as well as the Representations in Asia (ASI) in Tokyo and the Office in Europe (EUR) in Madrid. Together, these teams work to advance the IDB Group’s mission to foster sustainable development across regions while elevating its global impact.
What you’ll do
The new consultant will be responsible for coordinating tasks within ASI team under the supervision of the Bank’s Representative in Asia ensuring alignment with the GPS’s work plan and the IDB Group strategy and priorities.
The key activities include:
- Monitor and support the progress of ASI team members' individual goals ensuring their integration into the office’s strategic objectives for boosting mobilization of resources, bolstering delivery and dissemination of knowledge and building cooperative relationships with donors and other stakeholders in Japan.
- Oversee the execution of the office’s administrative tasks, monitoring the progress and providing guidance to the administrative personnel to better align these tasks with the office’s strategic objectives.
- Support the design and organization of seminars, conferences, workshops and other outreach events focused on Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) affairs, as well as key inter-regional development topics of importance for LAC and Asia serving as a knowledge hub in Asia to offer opportunities for learning and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in planning exercises to design new strategies for addressing the office’s priority issues. Advise the Representative on the effective implementation of these strategies.
- Assist ASI team members in developing knowledge and learning plans that address business needs of identify opportunities for improvement, in coordination with the GPS.
- Engage in daily communications with the GPS to better align the office’s activities with the strategic priorities of the GPS and other divisions at the headquarters.
