- Role Overview
The role contributes to the EBRD’s efforts to establish more sustainable local currency (LCY) financing through financial sector reforms and to the development of more efficient and self-sustaining local capital markets in its Countries of Operations (CoO).
The LC2 Analyst is to support senior members of the LC2 team with analytical and research work in monitoring and analysing capital markets developments and evaluating possible opportunities for EBRD engagement through either operational or advisory activities or policy dialogue.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Research and analytical work:- Conduct analysis of efficiency and liquidity in domestic money, FX, fixed income, equity and derivatives markets and produce reports that adequately reflect the state of capital market development in terms of institutions, market infrastructure and the regulatory environment.
- Update EBRD databases related to financial sector development with particular focus on country assessments and result measurements in a timely manner to enable quick access to data and meeting notes.
- Support LC2 related TC projects to ensure assigned tasks are managed in a timely manner to meet the agreed requirements.
- Assist in organising LC2 related workshops and conferences to strengthen knowledge sharing among the LC2 team members as well as across the EBRD.
- Contribute to development of LC2 internal and external communications, factsheets, Internet pages.
- Provide support in developing relationships with relevant external counterparts and agencies.
- Support the LC2 team with focus on financial sector dynamics to ensure progression on achieving more sustainable domestic capital markets.
- Assist senior LC2 team members in designing EBRD banking transactions with LCY or capital market relevance to maximise the capital market development impact of EBRD investments.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Academic qualifications:- Graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Law from a leading university of the country of education.
- Prior financial sector related, legal or regulatory work experience.
- Capital Markets experience in a bank, regulator, industry association or academic institution.
- Ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment and across organisational boundaries, with an interest and motivation for the EBRD mission.
- Analytical and research skills, strong numerical and financial skills with an ability to interpret financial data and design/develop models, databases and presentations.
- Strong writing and presentation skills, computer literate with excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Able to articulate observations and arguments in a convincing and concise manner, both orally and in writing to both internal and external counterparts.
- Organisational skills. Must be able to lead multiple and wide raging tasks concurrently. Ability to deliver quality outputs within often tight deadlines.
- A client-orientated team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take responsibility; work independently and proactively as a member of a team, whilst integrating into a small team.
- Ability to prioritise work, adapt quickly to changing priorities and learn on the job.
- Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy essential.
- Excellent English essential, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Russian would be a plus.
